Chris Garcia

LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

He/Him

Hi! I’m Chris Garcia, LCSW.  I’m originally from New Jersey and am now proud to call Southwest Virginia home. In true New Jersey fashion I received my bachelor’s degree and Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University (Go Scarlet Knights!).

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, beginning with homeless outreach in NYC, where I had the privilege of serving some of the city’s most vulnerable populations. For several years after, I worked in a women’s mental health shelter where I honed my skills in trauma-informed care to support women through significant life challenges. These experiences shaped my approach to therapy, emphasizing the importance of empathy, trust, and collaboration.

I have extensive experience helping individuals navigate a range of challenges, including substance use disorder (SUD), PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and addiction. With a deep commitment to fostering healing and growth, I strive to provide a compassionate, warm, and welcoming environment where my clients feel heard, understood, and supported.

Outside of therapy, I’ve been playing drums for over 20 years, and I bring that creative energy into my work. I’m here to support you through life’s challenges and help you find your path to growth and healing.
